About the Workshop

Show Times:

  • July 17, 2026 - 08:00 PM

This workshop introduces our students to the concepts of a Summer Stock Theatre production, going from audition through performance in a two-week period. Students learn from our community partners at All The World’s A Stage (ATWAS). Placing focus on script and utilizing theatre games, students will develop fundamental acting, vocal and dance skills that not only teach the art form, but impact self-confidence, creativity, and imagination. Students will then take their newfound skills and apply them to the final production.  The workshop concludes in two performances on the Macomb Center's main stage. This year’s production is High School Musical.

Attendance is mandatory for all participants. Consistent presence is essential to ensure full understanding of the material and active engagement in all required activities.

Classifications

At the Macomb Center we pride ourselves on offering Performing Arts experiences for students of different ability and experience levels. Our workshops are classified into three levels: Exploratory, Moderate and Intensive. Each level marks a progression in complexity of material covered in the workshop. These classifications are meant to serve as a guide in deciding if a particular workshop is right for your student. Please email artseducation@macomb.edu with any questions.

Intensive

Dedicated students with some prior experience is encouraged.  This level seeks to refine advanced techniques and challenge students to work in a professional setting with peers. These programs have rigorous daily schedules focusing on advanced technique, and performance quality, culminating in a ticketed performance. Significant time and energy will be invested by the student. Students will work with other highly motivated students. Intensive programs instill a professional work ethic, requiring students to handle fast-paced rehearsal schedules, manage their time effectively, and maintain accountability to the ensemble. The workshop concludes in two performances on the Macomb Center's main stage.

The price above reflects the Early Bird Discount. Please be aware that starting May 2, prices will revert to the regular rate, which includes a $25 increase.
